1. Conference Theme
===================
EuroSPI is unique in the way it brings both communities, researchers and industry, together. It is also unique in the way that we produce two proceedings, research papers with Springer and industry/experience papers with Wiley. We also publish key notes of the interactive workshops in Springer. Since 2010 we also cooperate with the international IGI journal for people issues.
Thus researchers are asked to write scientific papers with a practical background which could be re-used in industry.
Thus industry experts are asked to write experience / industry papers with a vision which could fruitfully push the ideas of researchers again.
This background corresponds with the theme as follows:
- \”Experiences with the Implementation\”: It is not enough to describe a new method or idea. We need proof or case studies that the method worked.
- \”Improvement and Innovation \”: The applied methods and techniques shall have a focus on innovating and improving processes and products.
- \”Related Benefits in the Organisation\”: The papers shall outline the measured / analysed benefit for the organisation.

Both committees are formed by more than 70 well known industry experts and researchers from 18 different countries.
Each contribution is peer reviewed by at least two different experts.
The conference has been recognised by world wide known scientic publishers:
18 selected research papers are published in the Springer CCIS (Communications in Computer and Information Science) series.
From 24 selected industry papers (published in the industry
proceedings) 12 will be selected for a special issue in the Wiley Interscience SPIP (Software Process Improvement in Practice) series.
From people issues related papers we will select 6 for a special volume in the IGI journal.
The programme committees are published on the web site:

5. History of EuroSPI
=====================
EuroSPI\’s mission is to develop an experience and knowledge exchange platform for Europe where SPI practices can be discussed and exchanged and knowledge can be gathered and shared. This mission is implemented by four major action lines:
1. An annual EuroSPI conference supported by Software Process Improvement
Networks from different EU countries.
2. Establishing an Internet based knowledge library, newsletters, and a
set of proceedings and recommended books.
3. Establishing an effective team of national representatives (in future
from each EU country) growing step by step into more countries of Europe.
4. Establishing a European Qualification Framework for a pool of professions
related with SPI and management. This is supported by European
certificates and exam systems.
EuroSPI represents a European experience forum collaborating with nearly all SPINs in Europe. EuroSPI offers experiences which can be re-used creating benefits in your own organisation .
EuroSPI is a successful initiative since 1994.
Annual conferences were held
1994 in Dublin (Ireland),
1995 in Vienna (Austria),

Note that for a paper to be published in the proceedings the authors have to sign a copyright form and at least one of the authors has to present the paper at the conference. The papers will be published in print and electronically and we therefore need all the source files for the papers.

10. European Certification and Qualification Association
========================================================
EuroSPI also established an umbrella initiative for establishing a
European Qualification Network in which different SPINs and national
initiatives join mutually beneficial collaborations:
EQN , European Quality Network, LLP Program , 2005 – 2007
EU Cert Campous – LLP Program, 2008 – 2009
Europe wide launch of EU Cert – DEUCERT, LLP Program, 2010 – 2011
In collaboration with the European Union (supported by the EU LLP
Programme) a European certification association has been created for the
IT and services sector to offer SPI knowledge and certificates to industry,
establishing close knowledge transfer links between research and industry.
With the support of the E-Learning manager project (2008 – 2010) an
infrastructure for online learning has been set up for European
professions related with SPI.
The online campus and certification systems are fully operative
and members from 18 EU countries are driving the initiative.
11. Local Information
====================
Conference Location – Roskilde University – Denmark
—————————————————
The EuroSPI2011 conference takes place at the Roskilde University, acting
as the host of EuroSPI2011.
The most important task of Roskilde University is to contribute to
experimental, innovative forms of learning and knowledge creation.
RU is characterised by:
- merging knowledge through interdisciplinary research and teaching
- pushing boundaries for knowledge through a problem-oriented approach
- focusing research and education on fields where the university has
international or national status
- bringing university and society together.
Roskilde is a place where history and new research meet. Roskilde was the capital of Denmark until 1443. Since then, Copenhagen has been the
capital. One of the most important sites of Denmark is in Roskilde. It is
where the dead Danish kings are laid to rest. The city also have a yearly
music festival called Roskilde Festival. The festival is one of two
biggest in Europe.
The Roskilde festival takes place when the EuroSPI 2011 conference finishes.
Also Roskilde houses the largest Viking ship museum in the world.
Social Event
————
EuroSPI has a great history for organising social events and
fostering the grounds of communication and collaboration.
EuroSPI will again find a solution where attendees will get in touch with
the research networks as well as with the Danish culture and history.
How to find the place
———————
By Plane
You can fly either to Copenhagen and take a train or taxi. Roskilde is 30
