METRI-STX Software Quality Seminar

5.9.2012 Edison 2, Innopoli II, Espoo

METRI (Metrics Based Defect Prevention in Software Engineering) and STX (Software Testing for Intended Quality) research projects are organizing a process improvement seminar in collaboration with Fisma (Finnish Sofware Measurement Association) on 5th of September in Otaniemi, Espoo.

The key note of the seminar is Professor Kevin Ryan from Lero Sofware Engineering Research Center in Ireland (http://www.lero.ie). Based on his long experience, Professor Ryan talks about the evolution needs of the software process. In the future Software Process Improvement (SPI) will not be enough. SPI needs to get closer to the product, its context and its customers. Flexible, easily tailored, and continually evolving processes are needed.

Further, the results of METRI and STX projects will be presented in the seminar. The METRI project aims at software product quality improvement through defect data analysis. The most common software engineering defect types identified in the METRI project will be discussed in the seminar. In addition, the SAWO functional defect classification scheme which has been developed based on the identified defect distributions will be presented. Applying the SAWO scheme helps companies in identifying practical process improvement needs via defect classification.

The STX objective is to increase productivity in software engineering by lowering testing and development costs. The research goal is to explain how software development, testing and quality depend on one another. The STX results allow companies to produce targeted level and type of quality more efficiently. Cloud testing, new research area identified in the STX project, will be presented in the seminar.

Participation in the seminar is free for all Fisma members but register for the coffee by 31.08.2011 in the following address: https://www.webropolsurveys.com/S/EBAFAF868141DA0D.par
